Composite material bonds to the tooth and supports the remaining tooth structure, which in turn helps prevent tooth breakage. This material is preferred not only because it looks more natural than the old “silver” or amalgam fillings but also because it requires removing less tooth structure than the traditional amalgam material necessitates.
