Meet The Staff

2008 has brought some exciting developments to our office. After two years as an associate in the practice, Dr. Julia S. Davis officially acquired the dental practice of Dr. Melinda Norton and Associates. We are now the Davis Dental Group and we are very excited about providing our patients and our community with outstanding dental care.

A Virginia native, Dr. Julia S. Davis attended the University of Virginia where she received her Bachelors Degree in Biology in 1994. She went on to complete her Doctorate at Virginia Commonwealth School of Dentistry graduating Cum Laude. After over two years working as an associate in the practice, Dr. Davis acquired the dental practice of Dr. Melinda Norton in January 2008.

Dr. Davis is a member in good standing with the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry through which she is pursuing her Fellowship. She attends regular meetings of the Midlothian Study Club and the Titanium Group to further her knowledge and love of the dental field.

Dr. Davis is married and has two young children. She enjoys spending her free time with her family.

Dentistry runs in the Selander family. After attending Brigham Young University and obtaining her degree in communications, Dr. Ann B. Selander decided to follow in her father’s footsteps and become a dentist. Her parents, especially her mother, dedicated many hours to help her achieve the dream. She completed her Doctorate at the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry and has spent the last 11 years practicing dentistry in the Richmond Metro area. After graduation, Dr. Selander worked as an associate in private practice as well as serving as adjunct faculty at MCV. For the last several years, she has been a member of the Davis Dental Group where she enjoys running the race with a great team.

Dr. Selander, an avid runner, believes that patient care, quality care, and prevention are of utmost importance. “My goal is to give every patient that sits in my chair the quality of dentistry that I would expect for my self,” she says. “Brushing, flossing, and better nutrition is the finish line,” she adds, “ and we want every patient to win!”

Dr. Melinda Norton, married and mother of two, grew up in Northern Virginia with her parents and four siblings.  Her father served in World War II and later became an ordained Methodist Minister.  She spent her young years with her stay-at-home mom, and her youngest deaf brother who taught her sign language.  A music aficionado, she enjoyed playing the violin, piano, and trumpet throughout high school and college.  She graduated from E.M.U in Harrisonburg, Virginia in 1986 with a Biology major and a double minor in Chemistry and Spanish.  She then gave piano lessons to young children for two years before being accepted to the MCV/VCU dental school in Richmond, Virginia, graduating in 1993.  One year later, she started Norton Dental Associates and practiced dentistry for 14 years.  She sold her practice to Dr. Julia Davis on Jan. 1, 2008.
